How To Secure A Barrette Bow

Before the Biewer Terrier there was the Shih Tzu, the Yorkshire Terrier, the Maltese... three breeds of dogs that wear bows. These bows were secured with rubber bands that were looped AROUND the pony tail of a dog. So it is only natural that one might think the barrette would go AROUND the pony tail. However, this is not the case. Not only will your bow not be as secure as you might like but over time your barrette will break. You might even notice that it starts to "bow" out from holding too much hair. Instead, use a rat tail comb and make a small pathway THROUGH the hair in front of the pony tail. Then you can insert the barrette and secure. Refer to the photo. Insert the barrette through where the black line is and NOT around where the red circle is.

Did You Know?

Did you know that your bows come with care instructions? Help keep your bows looking their best for years to come.

🐾 Store your bows in a cool, dry place. Keep out of extreme heat - please don't leave your bows in the car during the summer time!

🐾 When handling your bows, do not hold them by the rhinestones. The heat from your hands can shift the placement of the stones. Instead hold the bow by the barrette and the center piece.

🐾 When storing bows it's best to keep them from overlapping or touching each other. Use a container that has seperate sections for each bow.

🐾 Use a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on a qtip to restore the sparkle to  rhinestones. But do NOT use on the fabric of the bow. You will bleach the fabric that way.
